The Fortunes of Ferdinand Flipper, First US comic.

From Dartmouth Digitally Library Initiatives comes something very interesting:

It is “The first comic book written in the U.S. The story of Ferdinand Flipper is told by means of drawings accompanied by captions. One episode treats of the hero's experiences in California during the Gold Rush.”

The exact edition date is unknown but what is known, it was edited during the 1800s.

Follow this link to access the page with the comic book.
